PARIS, France.- A total of 109 people were arrested following the violent incidents that tarnished the demonstration in Paris for International Workers’ Day, the city police prefecture reported.
The individuals were arrested at the end of the mobilization, in which a group of hooded men prevented the advance of the parade and provoked tense riots.
In an interview with France 2 TV station, the French Minister of Interior, Gerard Collomb, reiterated the condemn to the events, which he described as inadmissible, and announced that for the next demonstrations there will be a greater deployment of security forces, which allows to separate agitators from the peaceful multitude.
Although in Paris the mobilization for May 1st was sabotaged by hooded groups, in the rest of the country demonstrations passed in complete calm.
