Venezuela and Cuba reaffirmed their bilateral ties during a meeting held within the framework of the 10th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the CELAC-Africa High-Level Forum, held in Bogotá, Colombia. Both nations took the opportunity to condemn the blockade imposed by the United States and to strengthen their diplomatic cooperation.

The meeting was led by the Foreign Ministers of Venezuela, Yván Gil Pinto, and Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, who reviewed the historical ties that have united both countries and highlighted the multiple avenues of collaboration developed over the years.

Furthermore, the ministers dedicated part of the session to analyzing the international political situation, marked by escalating conflicts and human rights violations in various regions.

In a statement released by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister via his Telegram channel, he wrote: “We express our solidarity with the Cuban people in the face of the blockade they confront, reaffirming what we stated in our speech at the CELAC Summit, where we raised our voices in favor of lifting unilateral coercive measures.”

Venezuelan diplomacy reiterated the need to create regional economic mechanisms that reduce dependence on external actors and strengthen Latin American integration in the face of international pressures. The Venezuelan Foreign Minister underscored that the meeting constitutes a forum of great significance for fostering South-South cooperation, particularly in strategic areas such as trade, energy, and health.

For its part, Cuba emphasized the importance of maintaining regional unity in defense of the sovereignty and self-determination of nations, highlighting that CELAC has established itself as a key platform for addressing common challenges.

The participation of both countries in the summit reaffirms their commitment to working jointly toward the construction of a more just and balanced international order — one in which the principles of independence and solidarity-based cooperation are respected.
