Havana, Cuba.- Legal institutions reported today to Cuban deputies and ratified their commitment to work towards achieving greater levels of speed and quality in the processes.

On the second and last day of the meetings prior to the 10th Ordinary Period of Sessions of the National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament) in its VIII Legislature, the Supreme People’s Court (TSP) and the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) recognized that there are remarkable advances, but much remains to be done to meet the population’s expectations.

Ruben Remigio Ferro, president of the TSP explained to the parliamentarians gathered at the Convention Center that the improvement of the aforementioned bodies is not something of the last moment, but a long process that began in 2011.

We capture the signals in the citizens’ complaints, because only in this way can a better quality in the administration of justice be guaranteed, the magistrate said.

Speed is something vital and when it is not raised in a case it becomes a cancer for the sector, Ferro pinpointed.

It is not a race of crazy people against time, because there are more complex cases than others, and those deserve a deep analysis to make an accurate decision, Ferro warned.

We defend good practices and procedures, he commented, and we respect the guarantees and rights of citizens, because this is basic when discussing due process.

He pointed out that it is important to arrive at decisions that comply with the laws and the Cuban reality, without losing sight of transparency and good arguments.

Ferro insisted on the need to work also based on ethics and be good people. We have advanced, the level reached is positive, but there are deficiencies, hence we have to consolidate internal control, said the head of the Cuban Judicial Court.

We will continue to address the nonconformities of the population, and it is not a collateral activity, it is part of the delivery of justice that we want to perfect, concluded the president of the TSP.
