HAVANA, Cuba. – The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Army General Raul Castro Ruz, the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, and the second Secretary of the Central Committee, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, presided over the final session of the National Meeting of Provincial and Municipal secretaries of the Party that met for three days at Nico Lopez Superior School of the Party.

Among the topics analyzed are the organization´s operation, the vanguard role of militants, the improvement of political and ideological work and the politics of cadres.

The leaders also addressed issues related to education, science, sports, services, transport, communications and compliance with the Guidelines of the Cuban society, among other matters of interest.

At the meeting, Army General Raul Castro Ruz addressed important national and international issues. He referred to the current situation in Latin America and the continued efforts of the United States to eliminate Governments and progressive movements in the region.

Raul also analyzed the conflicts in the Middle East and the role that Russia and China play at the global level in the face of imperial pretensions.

The first Secretary of the Party also highlighted the importance of the unity of the Cuban people and the defense of independence and sovereignty while emphasizing the need to develop the national economy even under the circumstances of the genocidal blockade by United States.

In the final day, the Secretary of the Council of State, Homero Acosta, offered information about the work done by the Commission in charge of drafting the draft Constitution of the Republic.
