HAVANA, Cuba.- From May 16 to 18, the International Colloquium titled Jose Marti and the Events of 1898 will be held in Havana.

As part of the homage to the national hero of Cuba, on the 123rd anniversary of his fall in combat and organized by the Center of Studies on Jose Marti, the academic forum will bring together Cuban and foreign researchers.

Ana Sanchez, director of the center, described the international colloquium as a contribution to clarifying what happened in 1898 and the years immediately before and afterwards, its implications for that time and the present.

Sanchez emphasized it will be an excellent opportunity to make way for the truth, among the mountain of lies raised by the enemies of Cuba; to bring to the present the warnings made by Marti and to reaffirm the validity and exactness of his independence thought.
