HAVANA, Cuba.- Up to last October, 687 thousand megawatts hours were generated in Cuba with renewable energy sources, which saved 178 thousand tons of fuel.

The progressive replacement of fossil fuels in electricity generation is essential in the policy for the development of renewable sources, which is strengthened by a Decree-Law and four complementary rules, published in the Ordinary Official Gazette number 95.

This legal instrument specifies the tariff benefits for natural and legal persons that purchase equipment using renewable sources, at non-collected prices, and with the opportunity to qualify for bank credit.

Also, the standards point as a target of the domestic industry, the production of equipment and parts for the promotion of renewable energy sources.
