CALIFORNIA, USA.- The prison the United States maintains at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base is an international disrepute for our country and a shame that must already be closed, The Opinion American newspaper says.

An editorial published by this media, the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the United States, also qualifies that prison as an affront to human rights, and a shameful chapter of the war on terrorism that must be closed once and for all.

The Opinion newspaper based in Los Angeles, California, criticized the idea of crimes so horrific that they deserve to be punished with decades of confinement, despite not having declared the guilt of the defendant.

Since its opening, the prison in Guantanamo has represented another dark chapter in the history of a naval base that remains more than a century ago in Cuban territory against the will of the people and the Government of the island.
