Visas were denied to Cuban delegation that would participate in the Board of Directors of the Pan American Health Organization.

HAVANA, Cuba.- Cuba reported that the United States denied the visas to the island delegation that would participate in the Board of Directors of the Pan American Health Organization in Washington.

The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the U.S. capital stated that the Cuban representation, which planned to attend the most important meeting of the health authorities of the region, was headed by the minister of the sector, Jose Angel Portal.

We express our rejection of such arbitrary action and denounce that with the denial of visas, the United States Government unreasonably violates its obligations as host country of an international organization, the text states.

Once again, the Trump administration is trying to silence Cuba’s voice, in an ongoing effort to hamper Cuban medical cooperation programs with other nations.
