Since last March 11 in Cuba, 2,005 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed. Just 80 days after those first three patients detected, 161 patients with the new coronavirus are hospitalized in the island; 1,760 have their lives saved and 82 people are mourned.
Although numbers continue to mark a decreasing trend in all COVID-19-related indicators in Cuba, the Government continues the daily check to the country’s epidemiological situation, under the premise of not neglecting for a second this frontal fight to the epidemic, which began at the beginning of March and in which the end point has not yet occurred.
The Cuban Government reiterated its position to maintain the measures applied in the country against COVID-19 and not to let its guard down in the face of the epidemic, even with the tendency to decrease in the number of confirmed per day, 6 on Monday, and in the number of active patients, 159 out of 1,947 since the disease reached the island.
This Monday, which marked two months of the first confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Cuba, confirmed the favorable trend of the latest dates, with 17 positive samples, 36 medical discharges in the day and no deceased: numbers that are the result of the battle of an entire country against an illness affecting four million people in the world and has killed more than 278 thousand.
The intense working day on Monday, which began in the Palace of the Revolution with the participation of President of the Republic Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, in the Online Summit level Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group under the theme of “United against COVID-19 pandemic”, had as a culmination the usual meeting of the temporary working group for the prevention and control of the new coronavirus, headed daily by the Head of State and the Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz.
The President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, insisted this Friday that “our health personnel must protect themselves and we must protect health personnel”, in the face of the threat of Covid-19, a disease that already counts in the world more than two million confirmed cases, 923 of them in Cuba.
