Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

HAVANA, Cuba.- The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, assured that today, 28 years after the founding of the Sao Paulo Forum, and in a context of imperialist and neoliberal offensive, it summons us once again, with an indispensable role as political protagonist and concerted space.

In the plenary dedicated to Fidel, Diaz-Canel recalled the emergence of this mechanism, to unite and articulate the forces of left and find the ways of defending Socialism in a new historical stage.

After highlighting the importance of the forum and its architects Fidel and Lula Da Silva, the Cuban President remarked that for the first time the meeting opens as a space for dialogue between parties and social movements.

Diaz-Canel outlined the complex international juncture, characterized by increasing threats to peace, intervention wars, and an unfair and exclusive economic order.
