Havana, Cuba.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and African Integration and Nigerians Abroad of the Republic of Niger, Ibrahim Yacoubou, arrived in Cuba on an official visit, the Foreign Ministry announced today.

During his stay in the Caribbean island the African nation’s foreign minister will hold talks with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez, and will carry out other activities, said the Cubaminrex site.

Cuba and Niger established diplomatic relations in 1976 and currently maintain strong ties of cooperation fostered in areas such as health, sports and education.

Official data estimate that the Cuban medical presence in Niger began in 1999 under the Comprehensive Health Program.
