HAVANA, Cuba. – Experts from several Cuban provinces gather in Sancti Spiritus to analyze the production, application and commercialization of medicinal plants.

The forum will end next Saturday, and it shows the experiences in the development of medicinal plants in Cuba, according to the program of the scientific meeting in which representatives of the ministers of Agriculture and Public Health participate.

MSc. Lisbet Avello, specialist in medicinal plants, said that in recent years the nutritional supplements produced in the world based on herbs, recorded an annual growth of twenty-five percent.

From 1991, the production of green and dry mass of the aforementioned plants in Cuba acquired a strategic character, and they are destined to the pharmaceutical industry.
