General elections in Cuba 2018.

HAVANA, Cuba.-The 605 deputies to the Cuban Parliament and the 1265 delegates to the provincial Assemblies of People´s Power were elected with more than half of the valid votes issued.

This was reported by the President of the National Electoral Commission, Alina Balseiro, who announced at a press conference the preliminary results of the elections on Sunday, March11.

Balseiro said 7,399,891 Cubans exercised the right to vote, which represents 82, 90 per cent of the total number of people summoned to the ballot box in this second stage of the general elections in the country.

Election Day in Cuba was described by Alina Balseiro as a popular success and reaffirmation of the conquests of the Revolution in these 59 years, with the massive assistance of the people.

Organization, Discipline and Attachment to Law

The President of the National Electoral Commission, Alina Balseiro, said in a press conference that, according to the preliminary data of the elections this Sunday, valid ballots accounted for 94, 42%.

That figure, she explained, is superior to the first stage of the current general election process and to the previous one, corresponding to 2012-2013.
Balseiro argued that 80, 44 percent voted for all candidates, and selective votes accounted for 19, 56 percent.

She pointed out that only 1, 26 percent of the ballots were cancelled, and remarked the support of agencies and institutions to the polls, as well as the work of the electoral authorities, with organization, discipline and attachment to the law.
