HAVANA, Cuba. – Mercedes Gzegozewski, head of Environmental Management of the Havana Bay State working group, highlighted how valuable it would be to turn the taxes charged to the polluting sources into environmental solutions.

The expert mentioned among these solutions the implementation of appropriate technologies and water treatment plants, the latter of great importance with a view to sanitation works and the subsequent use of the area.

When treatment plants now in projects begin to function, there will be a change in the appearance of Havana Bay´s waters, the specialist pointed out.

She also emphasized this issue will be vital when it comes to categorizing this enclave as a tourist environment, since it currently does not have the adequate water quality for leisure events and the expansion of nautical offers.
