BAYAMO, Granma.- The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, described as very stimulating the results and immediate perspectives of rice production in Granma, which contributes 42 percent of the volume achieved by the nation.

Diaz-Canel held a meeting with executives of eighth Congress Service and Credit Cooperative, located in Yara municipality, and was updated on the cultivation of the cereal through detailed information offered by Alexander Rojas, provincial delegate of Agriculture.

The executive explained that this year the territory will bring about 50 thousand tons of rice, and works to match its highest production reached before the special period.

Granma reached more than 88 thousand tons of rice for consumption, and it concentrates this cultivation on the peasant sector.
