Diaz-Canel evaluates social programs in Guantanamo.

GUANTANAMO, Cuba.- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez heads a government visit to the eastern province of Guantanamo, to check economic and social programs in the territory.

The tour began in the municipality of Baracoa, in the eastern end of the island, where Diaz-Canel met with authorities and workers of the chocolate factory, and knew about the investment there.

Also the head of State reached the new bridge that is built on the Toa River with the collaboration of Venezuelan constructive forces, after that engineered work collapsed in October 2016 due to the impact of Hurricane Matthew.

Since his arrival in the presidency last April, the Cuban President paid work visits to different provinces among them, Pinar del Rio, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Ciego de Ávila, Holguin, and Santiago de Cuba.

Close to Production and to the People

The asphalt plant at Maravi, on the road from Baracoa to Moa, was another point visited by Diaz-Canel, as part of a government visit to Guantanamo, which he heads from today.

The President exchanged with the workers of the place, which will allow to contribute aggregates for asphalt mixture and will also supply the asphalt plant of the community itself.

In addition, Diaz-Canel visited in Baracoa a Chinese technology factory for defibering coconut, a production that is recovered to diversify in several lines, and he knew the various phases in which the fruit is used.
The head of State also interacted with the people, who ratified their confidence in the Revolution.
