bloqueo-cubaHavana, Cuba.-Pedro Velis, a Cuban scientist and now director of the Cuban National Council for Scientific Associations (CNSC) stated Tuesday that the relation between Cuba and the US, is quite interesting, if it is scientifically analyzed.

‘We see that US President Barack Obama reestablihes the diplomatic relations with Cuba, but although he has the power to start pulling off the legal leaves forming the structure of the blockade, he makes a little about it,’ said Velis during the Special Season of the Cuban Science Academy, against the US blockade.

‘During his visit to Cuba, Obama stated the blockade, is an obsolete policy, but recently, he promulgated a legislation with which he is trying to confuse the international public opinion, just 12 days before the voting against the blockade in the United Nations,’ said Velis in his intervention.

Velis, also the president of the Cuban Intensive Medicine Association, remembered that the US President, although he called for forgetting the history of the mutual relations, did not ask for forgiveness for what the US government has done to Cuba, its people and government.

He also stated that people in the US scientific community, which is quite heterogeneous, want to get closer to Cuba, to understand Cuba, to see the Cuban development on sciences much closer.

‘If the Cuban people, does not keep its thought close to the people of Cuba, and its government, its society, we will continue to be victims of interventionism, the blockade will never stop, and the policies created by Washington to submit the Cuban people, will persist,’ concluded the Cuban scientist.
