Havana, Cuba.- President Miguel Diaz-Canel ratified Cuba’s support for Palestine at a meeting with his counterpart from that nation, Mahmoud Abbas, who is on an official visit to Havana.

During the meeting, the two leaders agreed to continue to develop the ties of solidarity, cooperation and friendship that have united both peoples and governments.

Díaz-Canel ratified Cuba’s permanent support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish their own state, with the borders that existed before 1967 and with East Jerusalem as their capital.

In addition, he condemned the unilateral decision by the United States to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and to move its embassy to that city.

For his part, Abbas thanked Cuba for its historic support for the cause of his people.

At the end of the official talks, he awarded to the Cuban leader with the Great Necklace of the State of Palestine, the maximum decoration granted to foreign personalities, which was also bestowed to the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro, and to the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, post mortem.
