HAVANA, Cuba.- The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro Ruz and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, expressed his sorrow at the death of Do Muoi, former Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

In a message to Nguyen Phu Trong, current Secretary General of the party, Raul Castro Ruz described Muoi as a close friend of Cuba, who contributed to strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between both countries.

For his part, Diaz-Canel sent a letter to Vietnamese President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, in which he also enhances the contributions of the missing leader to the development of the historic ties of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

Do Muoi died last Monday in Hanoi, and Vietnam will celebrate State funerals next Saturday and Sunday, days declared of national mourning. The ceremonies will take place at the National Funeral Home in Hanoi.
