HAVANA, Cuba.- Advancing in the process of computerization of the Cuban society in the same measure in which the issue of cybersecurity is promoted is one of the main principles the Ministry of Communications works in, Vice-Minister Wilfredo Gonzalez Vidal said.

During a keynote speech at 2017 Cybersociety event, Gonzalez Vidal added it is imperative to develop a strategy in the field of ICT, which contributes to the elements of technological sovereignty and allow drawing priorities more in line with the process of transformations undertaken by the Cuban Government.

In Cuba the Integral Policy for the Improvement of the Computerization of the Society in Cuba is the guiding document to carry out this process in a safe and sustainable way.

Necessary Days

The international event 2017 Cybersociety, organized by the Union of Computer Scientists of Cuba, began with a call to share solutions and build concepts from our reality.

The executive Director of the Inter-American Association of Telecommunications Companies, Dr. Pablo Bello, said that in the Latin American region the integration in the digital field is political responsibility of the nations.

This Tuesday, the president of ETECSA, Mayra Arevich, remarked that Cuba is determined to connect with the world, despite the propaganda against it, the economic siege, the redoubled surveillance and the fourth-generation wars.

The civil society forum aimed at discussing Internet governance, virtual education and health, emerging platforms and industry 4.0 begins tomorrow.
