BEIJING, China.- Chinese President Xi Jinping reminded his US counterpart, Donald Trump, the key role of trade in the development of their bilateral relations, by demanding respect and seriousness to handle the current differences.

During a telephone conversation, the Asian leader stressed that such kind of links proved to be a propellant and not a drag between the two powers.

At that point, Xi Jinping considered it imperative to focus on finding satisfactory solutions to the conflictive economic and trade issues, but also favorable to the healthy progress of Beijing-Washington ties.

The Chinese President also called on Trump to maintain contacts at all levels based on the principles of mutual respect and benefit, after expressing hope that the consensus reached by both of them during Trump´s visit to Beijing will be implemented with seriousness.
