BOGOTA, Colombia.- Media outlets refer that humpback whales returned to the Colombian Pacific coast as usual, after authorities in the Valle del Cauca department.
The sighting of these beautiful cetaceans constitutes the greatest tourist attraction of the Pacific region in Colombia between June and November, especially from the Uramba Natural Park in Malaga Bay.
Experts refer that at this time of year, humpback whales or Yubartas leave the icy waters of Antarctica and travel more than 8000 kilometers searching a warmer place to reproduce, give birth, and care for their offspring.
Some 3000 marine mammals of this type are expected to reach the calm waters of the Gorgona, Uramba, Bahia Malaga and Utria Natural National Parks in the Colombian West, the Valle del Cauca Tourism secretariat reported.
