José Vicente Rangel accuses the right of being involved in a coup.

CARACAS, Venezuela.- Venezuelan Journalist and political analyst Jose Vicente Rangel, accused the right of that country on Sunday of betting on the war by calling for abstention in the presidential elections of May 20.

“They are playing with a card set up by warmongering,” Rangel denounced during his program Jose Vicente Today, broadcast by Televen.

“Those sectors,” he said, “are betting on an unforeseen situation before May election, or a military intervention, or an uprising in the streets as a consequence of the shortage and high cost of living.”

Rangel added they also favor a foreign intervention through a coalition of forces, in order to reach the power they cannot reach at the polls.

The analyst said that the defeat of these interests in Venezuela is sure and pointed out that the only certain thing, foreseeable, against all odds is that next May 20 there will be elections and the people will vote overwhelmingly, and that everything the enemies of democracy and rule of law raise will fall precipitously.
