CARACAS, Venezuela.- The National Electoral Council of Venezuela set for April 22 the upcoming presidential elections, and pledged to ensure that political differences are settled through voting and popular expression.

According to the President of the Council, Tibisay Lucena, registrations in the electoral register will begin next Saturday and be released on March 5.

In turn, the Internet registration of applications and their submission to the National Board will occur in the last week of February; In addition, the entire process will be audited to ensure its transparency, and the election campaign will be extended from April 2 to 19, Lucena said.

The President of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela also stated that, given the opposition´s refusal to agree with the government, peace constitutes the only way for democratic coexistence, without interference or external aggression.
