PANAMA CITY, Panama. – A ship with five containers full of rice, oil and other foods left this Wednesday from Colon Container Terminal, in the Atlantic area of Panama, heading to the port of Mariel, in Cuba.

Prensa Latina news agency reports that the ship is part of the solidarity aid that began to arrive to the island coming from the Central American nation, after the passage of Hurricane Irma.

After the resumption of Copa Airlines’ flights, an ally of the Panamanian government in this operation of humanitarian assistance, three planes departed to Havana with about 4800 pounds of hygiene items, sheets and food, among other products.

According to the Panamanian Chancellery, fifteen additional containers with mattresses, sheets, hygiene and cooking items, blankets, food and other staple products will arrive next week in Santiago de Cuba.
