New York, United States.-Cuba today endorsed its commitment to the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and its 17 objectives aimed at promoting inclusive human progress and harmony with nature.

‘We worked hard in its implementation with the bases of our National Plan for Economic and Social Development, based on our Vision, Axes and Strategic Sectors defined until 2030,’ stated the official of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Carlos Fidel Martín.

Speaking at the annual session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the deputy director of International Economic Organizations highlighted the relations between the island and the UN agency.

He also called for enhancing global cooperation as a key instrument to carry out the objectives of Agenda 2030, established here in September 2015 with the eradication of extreme poverty at the center of priorities.

It will only be possible to end poverty throughout the world, to leave no one behind and achieve inclusive sustainable development by 2030 if we work with international collaboration, based on the principles of solidarity and shared responsibility, he pointed out.

According to Martín, it is urgent to apply a broad and effective resource mobilization policy, accompanied by South-South and triangular cooperation as a complement and not a substitute for the North-South cooperation.
