peru medicos 2Piura, Peru.-An intense work has been carried out by Cuban health emergency team in the first three weeks of solidarity actions for the victims of flooding that wreaked havoc the Peruvian northern city of Piura.

The team’s head Rolando Piloto told the Prensa Latina that the 23 Cuban health specialists have made 1,637 consultations so far in these 21 days.

The work carried out by Cuban doctors includes also activities to promote health, with 7,751 individual and collective talks attended by 3,909 people, as well as health lectures attended by 2,109 people.

They also carried out 223 exams to define the chlorine level in drinking water, the assessment of 2,288 people with fever, with possible dengue and other communicable diseases, as well as 243 epidemiological actions to prevent infectious outbreaks.

Piloto said that following the arrival of the brigade, health specialists worked in the most damaged areas, particularly in Lower Piura and the town of Catacaos, near Piura, provincial capital.
