Havana, cuba.-A delegation from the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) will visit Cuba next April to exchange with tourism and trade authorities, officials said.

The president of the Federation of Culinary Associations of the Republic of Cuba (Facrc), Eddy Fernández, said today that the visit is scheduled from April 1 to 6, when they will contact their Cuban counterparts and other directors of the country’s recreational sector.

He said that the group will be composed of WACS Continental Director for the Americas, Claudio Ferrer; Secretary General Cornelia Volino and the organization’s director Ragnar Fridriksson.

During their stay, the executives will met with Cuban ministers of Interior Trade and Tourism, Mary Blanca Ortega and Manuel Marrero, respectively.

They will examine on the occasion the possibilities of exchanges between cooks of United States and Canada with their counterparts of Cuba.

The agenda of the visit will also includes knowing the potential and steps of progress of Cuban cuisine as a benchmark of national heritage, and evaluate the creation of a team of young Cuban chefs to face the WACS.

Such a team woul be trained to take part in events and competitions both international and Pan-American.

The program of the delegation includes attending a sample of Cuban stylized cuisine, to be held in Havana, and another of artistic cuisine, planned for the Varadero spa. These meetings will be attended by dozens of exhibitors from this island.

Fernandez added that the WACS representatives will meet with the National Executive Council of the Facrc.

In their meetings, the experts will exchange criteria on tourism and gastronomy, and value perspectives of joint work, in addition to knowing the editorial Artechef.

The World Association of Chefs Societies is a professional organization founded in 1928 in Paris, France, dedicated to the maintenance and improvement of the culinary standards of world cuisine, which is represented by 93 countries and groups more than 10 million specialists.

Cuba is a member of this organization, and of the Association of Gastronomic Restorers of the Americas (Aregala), founded in 1987.
