Women of the World for Full Respect of Their Rights

HAVANA, Cuba.- Until Wednesday, Cuba hosts the meeting of the World Secretariat of the Women´s International Democratic Federation (WIDF), a meeting to update the work of the organization, which celebrates more than seven decades of founded.

On the opening day, its president, Lorena Pena, explained the purpose of the federation is to fight against imperialism, for peace and self-determination of peoples, and full respect for women’s rights.

The agenda of the appointment, Pena explained, will evaluate issues as equal pay for equal work for men and women, gender violence, and sexual and reproductive rights.

For her part, Alicia Campo, coordinator of the Regional Office of WIDF, highlighted that Cuba is hosting the meeting in a context in which the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) prepares for its 10th Congress.
