Climate change effects.Elba Rosa Perez, Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment, said today in Ciego de Avila that the Cuban State is the only one in the world with a plan to counteract climate change´s effects.

In a meeting with researchers, managers and agencies of that province Perez pointed out that due to the archipelago´s high vulnerability, they develop the proposal titled Tarea Vida (Life Task) to confront the phenomenon.

The plan approved by the Cuban Council of Ministers is inspired by Fidel’s thinking, when at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 said the human species is at risk of disappearing.

Tarea Vida is made up of strategic actions and tasks, which present a first identification of prioritized areas, their affectations and the measures that will be undertaken, Perez said.
