HAVANA, Cuba. – The Executive Secretary of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, Pablo Gentili, highlighted this Wednesday in Havana the need to update and deepen the legacy of Che in the current Latin American context.

During the opening day of the Third Conference of Strategic Studies, the Argentine researcher pointed out that Latin America, as a continent built on a slave colonial model, must work even more to achieve higher indices of equality, an idea defended by the Heroic Guerrilla during his lifetime.

He also pointed out that contemporary capitalism is reproducing and widening inequality, an aspect directly affecting the levels of violence in the area.

Gentili said that economic issues cannot guide politics, because this leads to the gradual depoliticisation of societies.
