ROMA, Italia. – Sergio Mattarella, President of Italia, received this Friday Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez, who thus concluded his official visit of three days to the European country.

During the meeting, Rodriguez passed on Mattarella the greeting from his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro, and thanked his message of condolence on Fidel Castro´s demise.

According to a note from the Cuban Embassy in Italy, both parties confirmed the willingness to deepen bilateral relations, which they qualified as positive and exchanged opinions on the current international scene.

President Mattarella recognized Cuba’s role as guarantor of the peace process in Colombia and highlighted the historic encounter between Pope Francis and the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Kiril in Havana last year.
