Havana, Cuba.- Cuba has eliminated mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis, a certification recently ratified by the World Health Organization (WHO), local media reported on Monday.

Cuban Minister of Public Health Jose Angel Portal assured on Twitter that Cuba has maintained this achievement for four consecutive years.

Cuba has been continued to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis since 2015, which is an impressive public health achievement, according to the statement sent by WHO and quoted by the newspaper Granma.

According to the text, in June 2019, Cuba submitted a report on the sustainability of these indicators to the world secretariat of the specialized agency responsible for these issues.
