Havana, Cuba.- President of Russian transportation firm Sinara, Anton Zubikhin, said in Havana that the company will invest more than 200 million euros in the modernization of Cuban railways.

Zubikhin explained to national television reporters that there is a comprehensive contract for the supply of 75 locomotives, 51 of which are already in Cuba, while another 19 will arrive next year.

He also informed that Cuba will receive 80 railbuses next year, of a total of 300 expected to be supplied to the island.

About 200 workers from the Cuban Railways Union received training in Russian industries and in Cuba.

Sinara also participates in the project for the rehabilitation and modernization of railway infrastructure through a contract worth 1,800 million euros, according to the news report.

This project will cover the three main lines of the country; among them the central railroad that connects Havana and the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.
