MEXICO CITY, MEXICO.- The President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, defended the creation of the National Guard for the coercive confrontation of the insecurity undermining the tranquility of the country, before criticisms from the opposition reluctant to that initiative.

After his daily morning meeting at the National Palace with his security cabinet, the president said he offered a frank hand to governors opposed to the initiative, and clarified he will not confront them.

The Mexican President insisted that the elimination of legislative and executive jurisdiction is a part of the battle against corruption and violence that plagues that country.

Lopez Obrador will meet with governors this afternoon to address the criticisms of some of them, although he clarified there is no problem because the sovereignty of each entity will be respected and they are in their right to express themselves on the agreement.
