Beijing, China.- China maintains its position of deep rejection to the imposition of unilateral sanctions in economic, political or economic terms, such as the U.S. blockade against Cuba for more than 50 years.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday stated that its government advocates that the international community respects the right of all countries to choose their own social system and development model.

In case of Cuba, China firmly supports its people and during the last 26 years, it always voted at the UN General Assembly against the permanence of the economic, financial and commercial siege imposed by the United States.

However, China hopes that the governments of Havana and Washington can continue with the normalization of their relations, since it considers it a beneficial factor for both peoples, regional and global peace and stability.

On Wednesday, October 31, the United Nations General Assembly will vote for the 27th consecutive year on Cuba’s draft resolution, demanding the lifting of the U.S. blockade.

Since 1992, the members of the international organization have endorsed every year the text that advocates for the cessation of this coercive measure, the main obstacle for the island’s development and its economic ties with the rest of the world.
