Diaz-Canel called for socializing the best experiences in communitary work.

HAVANA, Cuba. – Miguel Diaz-Canel said this Monday, we cannot limit community work to culture and education; it has to start from a government action, it is its responsibility to relate the institutions´ work, the communitarian leaderships, and the initiative.

The first Cuban Vice-President participated in the debates of the parliamentary Committee on Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment, at the Convention Palace of Havana.

From government management at the local level, it is necessary to unify the community’s potential in a participatory exercise, both in diagnoses and in decision-making and in solving problems, Diaz Canel added.

After emphasizing projects have to be uplifting, far from banality, with sustenance in revolutionary and socialist ethics, and he called for socializing the best experiences.

A Shared Responsibility

Making school the most important cultural center of a community is related to the commitment to elevate quality of education as part of the improvement of its system, Ena Elsa Velazquez, Cuban Minister of Education, affirmed.

The parliamentary Committee on Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment discussed this morning the community cultural work, to which contribute schools, the Culture houses of, the cultural institutions, instructors, and the local governments in an integrated work.

Parliamentarians recognized some tangible progress in that articulation, and insisted on the need to identify weaknesses and distortions in order to confront them in time.

Abel Prieto, Minister of Culture, said in the community today is the battle for Socialism in Cuba, and recalled it is a priority to ensure the quality of each project.
