In Venezuela, this May 1 the people starred a great march in defense of its sovereignty, few hours after a failed coup d’état with the expressed complicity of the United States and the internal ultra-right.

Quito, Ecuador´s capital, was the scene of peaceful demonstrations to demand respect for labor rights and the end of dismissals, as well as to stop the agreement with the International Monetary Fund, among other demands against privatization and paquetazos.

Uruguayan demanded more jobs, truth and justice, during the traditional celebration of the International Workers’ Day in Martyrs of Chicago Square.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian trade union centers, for the first time in a unitary manner, celebrated May 1 in a new demonstration of resistance against the social setback imposed by the government of Jair Bolsonaro.

Events and demonstrations took place today in Santiago de Chile and in 23 other cities in that country, with extensive claims against the neoliberal policies that the government of Sebastian Pinera promotes.
