
Bolivia achieves a substantial reduction of coca leaf crops.
LA PAZ, Bolivia. – President Evo Morales highlighted this Monday Bolivia’s successes in confronting drugs, and the substantial reduction of coca leaf crops, thanks to a new model implemented in the country.
The Bolivian President attended in the city of Santa Cruz the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the special force to fight drug trafficking.
Morales recalled that during the military dictatorships there were fifty thousand hectares of coca leaves in Bolivia. In the later neoliberal governments there were forty thousand; however, the last report of the United Nations mentions about twenty thousand.
After the expulsion of the American Anti-narcotics Agency and the closure of the military bases, Bolivia confronts better this scourge. Our model of fight drug trafficking has many recognitions, Evo Morales asserted.
