BEIJING, China.- China warned the US not to underestimate its determination to defend national interests and rights, as long as trade confrontation persists with each other, and recalled that the aftermath of the conflict affects both sides.

Geng Shuang, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a press conference that his country does not want an escalation of tensions, but it is not afraid to face a worse scenario, nor will renounce its principles to external pressures.

As Shuang remarked, although China has the capacity to protect its companies, it opposes the unilateral imposition of additional tariffs because they do not solve any problems and are detrimental to the two powers.

The spokesman responded to Washington’s announcement on Monday that it will proceed with another round of tariffs of 25 percent to more than 3000 Chinese goods valued at 300 billion dollars.
