Bolivian leader Evo Morales questioned today the attitude of the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, before the arbitrary detention of nine Bolivians in Chile, in violation of national sovereignty, economic and human rights.

In his Twitter account, Morales recalls that in March two Bolivian military and seven customs officers who fought smuggling were arrested by Chilean Carabineros, and taken to Alto Hospicio penitentiary in Iquique.

The dignitary also points out that the detainees were in Bolivian territory, but Chile claims they were in its jurisdiction and accused them of robbing trucks and other crimes, when in fact they fought drug trafficking.

Evo Morales emphasizes the head of the OAS is silent on that subject, despite the fact that personalities such as Nobel Peace Prize Rigoberta Menchu claims the detainees´ release.
