HAVANA, Cuba.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez, reiterated this Thursday his country’s rejection of the latest measures taken by the Trump Administration.
Cuba rejects in the strongest terms the measures announced last April 17 that show that the American government, in the absence of arguments, goes back to the most stark lies to justify its actions, the Chancellor said in a crowded press conference.
Rodriguez rejected the lies of the National Security adviser, John Bolton, and highlighted that Cuba does not have troops, nor participates in military actions in Venezuela.
For almost an hour, the Chancellor dismounted the falsehoods wielded in recent days by senior officials of the U.S. government and demanded not to use the Cuban issue as an electoral element laden with politicization.
Tightening the Blockade
Cuban Chancellor Bruno Rodriguez said that the measures announced by the United States imply a reinforcement of the blockade, by means of the strict application of the Helms-Burton Act, which increases when Title III is put into active.
When Washington announces restrictions on remittances, it not only hurts the interests and income of our families, but also harms the freedom and right of people in the United States, he said at the press conference.
He pointed out that all Cubans are punished as same as American families and people of goodwill in that country too, while encouraging the trafficking of people, feed the gangs engaged in this illegal activity and create conditions of risk.
Cuban families should not be held hostage to political infighting in the United States or the fierce competition between Democrats and Republicans, Chancellor Rodriguez said
Cuba to Resist
The declared goal is to stifle economy and punish the Cuban people as a whole, in order to draw political concessions from our government, denounced the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez, in reference to the most recent measures taken by Washington against Cuba.
Rodríguez remarked that despite the undeniable economic impact that the U.S. Government´s behavior and these measures will have, they will not be able to move one iota of the strong determination of resistance of the Cubans, or bring closer the old yearning to overthrow the Revolution.
The Cuban Chancellor denounced that Washington’s current foreign policy is a real threat to the hemisphere, because those who drive it strive to turn the region into a conflict zone.
