United States measures against Cuba won´t intimidate people.

HAVANA, Cuba.- The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, said today that the measures taken by the United States to stifle the country economically do not intimidate the people.

Cubans will always defend our sovereignty and independence from the Empire, we assume this legacy of our history, he wrote on Twitter.

The President said the Helms-Burton Act, adopted in 1996 and applied by the United States, is to destroy the Revolution, while attacking the independence and dignity of the island.

Diaz-Canel highlighted this law represents the annexationist and colonial yearning, intends to provoke the change of the political and economic system in Cuba, and it is an affront to Cuba´s sovereignty and dignity. He also described the rules of absurd and illegal, because he said it is not possible to legislate against the world, nor to ignore the sovereignty of each country.
