Havana, Cuba.- The challenges of cooperativism is one of the issues experts from some 10 countries are discussing today, during an international meeting on this subject, taking place at the Conference Center in this capital.

Alcides Lopez, director in the Ministry of Agriculture, talked about those challenges in his keynote speech at the 4th International Meeting on Cooperativism.

A panel to discuss the experiences of this productive movement in the country will also be held related to this theme.

The keynote speech ‘A circular economy experience of integration with cooperative participation’ was discussed yesterday, and the panel related to the need for such integration in the sector was carried out.

Representatives of agricultural and non-agricultural cooperatives exchanged views on the importance and need to exchange knowledge and experiences among themselves, as well as the best productive practices.

This 4th Meeting is part of the Third International Congress on Economic Management and Development, being held from Tuesday here, and in which more than 190 papers will be discussed.

Today’s agenda also includes the keynote speech The management of local development: a vision from the Cuban context, by Professor Carlos C. Torres, of the University of Pinar del Rio, the westernmost province of this island.
