Havana, Cuba.- Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister Alejandro Gil described the role of the Ministry of Economy and Planning as decisive to face the blockade imposed by the United States for more than 60 years.

During the commemoration for the 60th anniversary of the institution held on Wednesday, Gil, who is also the Minister of Economy, called to eliminate obstacles and provide solutions to contribute to development.

‘The role this Ministry has been playing in the economic transformations the country is developing is decisive,’ he assured.

In the presence of Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes, Gil recalled that we work with successes and mistakes, like all transformative human work, but proud of history and the unquestionable progress of the country.

‘Analyzing the results of our economy in these 60 years, we have to put in context, because we cannot brand as inefficient a model that day by day faces the siege and irrationality of a powerful empire,’ he said.

The activity included the issue of a stamp commemorating the foundation of the institution in 1960.
