HAVANA, Cuba.- A little over a month separates us from February 24, a date set in Cuba for citizens, in sovereign exercise, to ratify with their vote at the ballot box the new Constitution of the Republic.

Organization, motivation and commitment to develop a successful electoral day that is the environment that is appreciated today in the country, Cecilia Valdes Milian, vocal of the National Electoral Commission (CEN) said to Radio Reloj in a dialogue on the path walked and the one that remains to go before that date.

It was that reality that we perceive in routes throughout the provinces, which commits us even more to finalize details and to guarantee a referendum with quality next February 24, as our people expect, Valdes Milian emphasized. From the headquarters of CEN, she explained the work schedule after the inauguration of its members last December, which has allowed them to arrive organized and prepared to the current stage.

Among the most important moments the vocal of the National Electoral Commission mentioned the training of the electoral authorities at all levels. In Cuba we did not live a constitutional referendum years ago, and therefore most of the authorities who act do so in such a process for the first time, she said and added: Although the current process has many points of contact with the general and partial elections, it has its differences. For that reason we have devoted a good time to training, based on the normative framework covered by the referendum.

Valdes Milian reported that a last training began this January 21 and will cover the whole week, addressed to the polls, because the authorities at that level teach the people to vote, keep them informed, are closer to the people, and have the possibility of counting at the end of the day.

On the voter registration, the member of CEN reiterated that voters lists are published in public sites since January 14, and it is now time for the people to come to review their first and last names, identity card and domicile. It is necessary for voters to carry out the process of verifying their data, and if there is any error, then go to the Constituency Electoral Commission in order to clarify and rectify it, she insisted. So, Valdes Milian said, the final version of the list will be in excellent condition.
