PINAR DEL RIO, Cuba. – With a heritage exceeding s 86 thousand hectares of forests, the workers of the Macurijes Agroforestry Company, in the municipality of Guane, continue the deliveries of poles to the provinces affected by Hurricane Irma.

Despite the rains that hinder the cutting of trees in the territory of Mantua, tree felling is concentrated in areas near the impregnation plant of those wood structures, used for electrical installations and telecommunications.

Francisco Diaz Roque, director of the Macurijes Agroforestry Company, said they aspire to close the year with 30 thousand poles, and a considerable volume is already in use in areas severely beaten by the passage of Hurricane Irma.

For a decade, he emphasized, this group has provided the country with savings of more than $45 million for import substitution.
