CAMAGUEY, Cuba. – The historic center of Camaguey, a Cultural Heritage of Humanity, was affected by a tornado with estimated winds between 110 and 120 kilometers per hour.

Among the most affected areas are San Juan de Dios Square, one of the main areas visited by national and foreign tourism, as well as the Guignol Theater venue.

According to the report of the Forecast Department at Camaguey Weather Center, the phenomenon was associated with the converging flow of wind, evening warming, and local summer conditions.

Authorities of the territory already prepare the specialized companies responsible for restoring services to the population after the fall of electric lines, with the consequent affectations in public and residential lighting.
