HAVANA, Cuba.- On the occasion of the Day of Latin American Medicine, President Miguel Diaz-Canel congratulated this Monday the Cuban doctors, and called them guardians of human virtue.
Congratulations and thanks to the heroes of Cuban and Latin American medicine. To those who fight for life, whether in a humble Cuban neighborhood or in a village in the Amazon. More than doctors you are guardians of human virtue, Diaz-Canel wrote on his Twitter account.
The Cuban President added it is a day of those who believe in the utility of virtue and a day to celebrate the ideas of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, who was a promoter of free medicine and taking it to the most remote and forget corners of the world.
In honor of Cuban epidemiologist Carlos Juan Finlay, the date of his birth was instituted as the Day of Latin American Medicine.
