HAVANA, Cuba. – The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) granted this Thursday in Havana, the August 23 Distinction to a group of females, who with their daily work contribute to the development of the country and exalt the role of the organization representing them.

From the hands of Teresa Amarelle, secretary general of the FMC, twenty three women received the award in El Laguito Protocol Hall.

Arelys Santana, second secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women, remarked the revolutionary commitment of the decorated women, with more than 20 years of uninterrupted work and 40 to the service of the organization.

In the cultural and political ceremony they highlighted the work of the Sierra and Llano heroine Vilma Espín and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, who said that woman is a revolution in the Revolution.
